Today the Olympic Torch will pass by 5 cities in Scotland and 3 islands as it tours the UK following the 2012 Games in London.

The first 74 locations in the UK where the torch will be passing through.

Celebrations will be taking place to mark the flames arrival, which will be held in Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and will also visit Orkney, Shetland and the Isle of Lewis.

The Torch is due to arrive from Greece to the UK on the 18th May for the relay to begin on the 19th May 2012.

A search has also been launched for 8,0000 inspirational people to carry the torch to different locations.

The torch will start off at Lands End on the 19th May 2012, and will continue to the Stadium in London.

The flame is expected to travel 8,000 around Britain. A detailed route is yet to be released nearer the end of this year and it is though that 95% of the population is within a one hour journey of the torch.

The Scottish relay will start in Glasgow on the 8th June, the flame will the continue through Inverness Shetland Orkney and the Isle of Lewis, then will return to the main land visiting Aberdeen, Dundee, and then on to Edinburgh on the 13th June.
