Lorry Fire on M74alt

Traffic this morning was tailed back as far as 6 miles this morning as a fire caused serious delays for motorists

Fire brigade and police were called to the scene at Junction 7 (Larkhall) at 7:20 this morning.

The northbound carriage way was down to one lane, traffic is tailing back about 6 miles to Junction 9 (Draffen). No one was injured in the fire.

Delays also on the A72 Lanark road which joins the M74 at Hamilton due to a break down at Junction 8 (Canderside) and Junction 7 (Larkhall) which also added to the congestion.
