Biker seriously ill after a crash at Peacock Crossalt

A 52 year old man was last week admitted to hospital after suffering severe injuries after a terrifying ordeal at Peacock cross on Tuesday at 7.40am.

The 52 year old man was on his motor cycle when it collided with a blue van on Burnbank Road, we are lead to believe the van driver was shaken up but otherwise unharmed.

After the incident hundreds of commuters faced a 3 hour delay as Burnbank road. Almada street and Clydesdale Street was closed, whilst both the Motorcycle and the Van were uplifted on to a recovery truck and then taken away.

The accident which happened on the new two-way system in Burnbank Road came only after a week after a new £5 million traffic system was introduced into the area.

Motorists travelling from Earnock, Hillhouse, Wellhall, Laighstonehall, Burnbank, Whitehill and Blantyre faced massive tailbacks on Tuesday.

After learning about the incident commuters who were travelling to the town Centre took the alternative route by travelling through Whitehill and along Bothwell Road

After an investigation Police then reopened the Road up at 10:05am.
