Snake on the Loose
Gary Bunton of Cherrie Pie in Hamilton was shocked last week when a 4ft Honduran Milk Snake was spotted in the bumper of his Nissan Quashqai car which was situated in the New Cross Multi Story car park in Hamilton at around 12.30pm on Saturday.
People watched in horror as they reptile slithered along the floor then on to Gary’s car. The snake is thought to come from another vehicle in the car park.
The alarm was raised when a woman saw the snake (coloured black and yellow) which is similar to the deadly Coral snake on the second floor of the car park.
It was then a parking attendant who told Gary’s girlfriend about the snake, who then informed Gary. At first Gary did not believe her thinking it was a prank but once he went to investigate he spotted the snake in the bumper of his car.
Gary knows who owns two pythons soon contacted an snake expert at the Olympia Pet and Reptile Centre in East Kilbride who informed him that the reptile was harmless, if the snake was red and yellow then it would have been a deadly one.
The snake was confirmed harmless once the police arrived at the scene, attempts were made by the police to move the snake from the car, but it wouldn’t budge.
Police then escorted Gary’s car to a near by garage on Udston Road in Hamilton , during a 45 minute ordeal garage owner Lawrence Falconer soon put the car up on a ramp, took the tail lights and back bumper from the vehicle and removed the snake
